July 5, 2002, Newsletter Issue #38: Broken links on your web site

Tip of the Week

Pages get renamed, rewritten, deleted, etc., and if there was more than one way to get to a deleted page, chances are there is a dead link somewhere pointing to a non-existent page. Nothing frustrates a user more than to find a "The page cannot be found-404" error, and quite possibly, the user might leave the web site in search of a better maintained site.
