October 11, 2002, Newsletter Issue #44: Duplicate your menu links in the footer as text

Tip of the Week

If you use graphical menus on your page, such as at the top or side bar, also have the menu items duplicated at the bottom, using just text links if possible. This will not only allow access in case the graphical menus don`t load or the javascript menus are disabled, but also if you have a lot of content on a page that needs to be scrolled down to, the menu will be available without having to scoll back up to the top.

Something I do as a rule: I add an include file for my footer, and put the text menu on that -- this way it`s easy to add the menu on your page -- one line of code! See my article on include files for more information.
